Even as the education of women in Africa is lagging, a woman is becoming Prime Minister in Mali for the first time.

I think it is great to see women gaining access to governmental positions. Knowing that women around the world are still struggling for rights it is nice to know that some women are starting to find themselves in positions of power. Power to the Women!!
I think that Mali gaining their first female prime minister is one step toward modernization. The western world is continually opening up more room for women to hold political offices. The fact that Mali now has a woman as their prime minister may open the door to the country becoming more westernized in other areas and create a domino affect for the rest of the continent.
This is one small step forward for women in Africa. It is a great success and I do not want to take away from it in any way but it is the success of one woman. What is that in a continent where many women still struggle to get a basic education of any time. In order for this to be seen as a major accomplishment she as prime minister must bring more attention to the topic.
