The King of Swaziland, Mswati III, is wasting his time. The change in government that the people of Swaziland are demanding will come to pass. As a wise King, he should know that. No King or Queen has ever won a war against his or her people. The King of Swaziland knows that. In fact, African kings are supposed to be people who are very much abreast with the wishes of their people; they usually try to bring peace among their people rather than harm. By the very act of suppressing his people, he is diminishing his authority. The shopping spree is just more proof of the tragedy of the wealthy seeking power through materials. It is interesting that the Swazi women are encouraged not to march, but it is encouraging that they desire to march at all.
If he was a truly wise King he would be ruling and making decisions for the people instead of his own benefit. This would mean that there wouldn't even be a need for his people to ask him to step down. A truly wise King would keep his people happy. He seems more of a power hungry tyrant than a wise King. It would seem that one of the largest problems with African Leaders is that they think of themselves as wise when the reality is vastly different.
Oh Wow! I'm not even surprised by this! This is what the public hears about, but who knows what else he is blowing public money on! First of all, Why did they approve the request? and why are they trying to tell the women not to march. I think they have the right to march especially because their country is so poor and people are suffering while the Kings wives are going on European shopping sprees.
