In Kenya, A Wedding For History Books

See video of a controversial wedding in Kenya. I remember it was Blaise Pascal who said that the heart has its reason which reason cannot know. Perhaps he was correct.

It is interesting that this marriage is viewed as abnormal in Kenya. In the US people with that age difference get married all the time. Perhaps here in the US, we have become so detached from the permanence and symbolism of marriage that such an oddly matched pair would not be looked down upon, while in Kenya it would cause confusion and worry. Who knows if there are ever any ulterior motives involved, but like you said, the heart has no reason..

Wow. This wedding really surprised me... I would have thought that Mr. Mbugua would have considered Mrs. Mbugua as a mother figure, not a lover. Is this kind of union acceptable in Kenyan culture or is this seen as disrespect to age differences of elder and younger Kenyans?

Although people of different ages get married in the states, sometimes within the family it could be controversial, like marrying someone outside of your race. However, it is not televised and not necessarily a large controversy, even though people may look down on it and talk bad about it in the comforts of their own home
