Robbers In Paradise III: Paul Biya's Cameroon

It still beats the imagination of most people that Cameroon, a land flowing with milk and honey, to use a biblical image, has been so poor for so long. The secret lies in the grand larceny which is now the rule of law in the country, under its present dictator, Paul Biya. It is now being reported that two former ministers in the Biya regime have been arrested for corruption. Is this not a perfect example of a thief arresting a thief? Biya himself, the leader of this gang, sleeps in peace in the house of the people in Yaounde while giving orders for his former (always former, not present) aides to be arrested. Cameroon is a good example that proves that St. Augustine was right when he described the state as gangsterism on a massive scale. The person with the police and army behind them, wins. Since the police and the army are behind Biya, he is accountable to no one and so can feign to arrest others when he is, in fact, the person who needs to be arrested for grand larceny of the people's wealth.
