Cameroon's Dictator, Paul Biya, Marks 30 Years In Power Today

Thirty years ago, France forced the then president of Cameroon, Amadou Ahidjo, to resign and had over power to Paul Biya, who was then the Prime Minister of the country. Since then, Paul Biya has transformed himself into a dictator, ruling through the army while paying his primary loyalty to France. He has orchestrated one fraudulent election after another even as he drags down the economy of the country. He is hiding from public view on this day in order not to alert the world that he is one of the last remaining dictators in Africa. He seems to be ashamed of his own legacy - he should be.

Firstly Cameroon has never been subjected to any dictatorship and this can be testified by most Cameroonians. Dictatorship belongs to the past. Having a strong army and ruling through the army are 2 different things. Cameroon does not have any military rule, the army is simply performing its basic and primary job. When our army was fighting during the Bakassi crisis and when the rapid intervention battalion with all their energy fight crime wave in the country and at the borders of our country, those who talk of military rule do not react. Elections in Cameroon have held in transparency over the years. Because of the strength and good political organization of Cameroon, people tend to see fraud everywhere meanwhile CPDM is simply reaping the fruits of its strategic organization which is aimed and making their militant and supporters the major actors of our democracy.

Well I read the comment from Bobda and felt disappointed. If you call what is going on in Cameroon democracy then it is high times for us to redefine democracy.Constitution tailored to keep Biya in power, a minister has the right to pocket 66billion FCFA,elections are organized and observed by the CPDM I can only name a few but do understand that there are many points that qualifies Biya as a dictator .
