It is being reported that Prime Minister Philemon Yang of Cameroon donated 20 million francs (about $45,000) to the Biya re-election campaign. Cameroonians would like to know where this money is from. We would like to know how much the Prime Minister earns, his business investments, and how he made his money. We have a right to know. The obscene amounts of money that is said to have been raised in Cameroon for the Biya re-election campaign belies the permanent economic crisis that has bedeviled the country for over twenty years now.

Before being a prime minister Philemen Yang is a Cameroonian citizen like any other one, free to have business and investments in domains that please him. More to that he has been served in the government for very long as top ranking official and ambassador, justifying at least he must have saved some money which he can donate to any one as he wishes.
The issue is not whether Mr. Philemon Yang has businesses or not or whether he has saved money or not. As a public official, Cameroonians have the right to know how he got his money. How much was he paid during the time he served as a civil servant? Does his salary warrant him to have such an amount of money to donate to Biya's presidential campaign? Cameroonians have a right to know how he made his money. If you know exactly how Philemon Yang made his money, tell us.
